The Giphy integration adds a GIF picker to the Empuls feed composer. Once enabled, employees see a GIF button next to the post and comment inputs that opens a searchable Giphy library. The picker respects content ratings so you can keep posts within your organization’s content policy. Open the integrations hub in your tenant at https://<your-empuls-url>/home/integrations and click Giphy.

Before you start

  • You must be a Super Admin in Empuls.
  • Decide which Giphy content rating you want to allow before enabling — the picker filters results by rating.
  • Giphy’s terms of service apply to any content surfaced through the picker.

Enable Giphy

1

Open the Giphy card

From the Integrations hub, click Giphy → Configure.
2

Toggle on

Set Enable Giphy picker to on.
3

Choose content rating

Pick one of: G (general audiences), PG, PG-13, or R. Default is G — recommended for most organizations.
4

Choose where the picker appears

Enable the picker per surface: feed posts, comments, recognition citations, group posts. You can toggle each independently.
5

Save

Employees see the new GIF button on their next page reload.

What employees see

The Giphy picker opens a search box and a grid of trending GIFs. Employees can:
  • Search by keyword (typing fetches results from Giphy in real time).
  • Scroll trending GIFs without searching.
  • Click any GIF to insert it into the post or comment.
The picker only returns GIFs at or below the content rating you configured.

Content moderation interaction

If you have AI content moderation enabled, posts containing GIFs are evaluated against your moderation rules just like text posts. Inappropriate GIFs (rare given the rating filter, but possible) are blocked or flagged the same way as text.

Disable Giphy

Toggle Enable Giphy picker off in the same configuration screen. The GIF button disappears from all surfaces. Already-posted GIFs stay on the feed.

Limits and gotchas

  • Giphy availability depends on Giphy’s API. Brief outages from Giphy will hide the picker temporarily.
  • GIFs are hosted by Giphy, not Empuls. Posts referencing deleted Giphy URLs may render as broken images later.
  • Lowering the content rating after a period of permissive use does not retroactively remove already-posted GIFs at a higher rating.
  • AI settings — Configure content moderation that scans all posts including GIFs.
  • Social intranet — Feed composer where the picker appears.
  • Feed settings — Other feed-wide controls (when documented).
